Angela Zavaleta Bernuy

Dr. Angela Zavaleta Bernuy is the Co-Director of the CORE Lab and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing and Software within the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University. Her research focuses on computing education, adaptive tutoring systems, and intelligent educational technologies, with an emphasis on creating more effective, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W), where she contributes to initiatives that support, celebrate, and advance women in computing.

As the only Indigenous Latinx faculty member in McMaster’s Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Zavaleta Bernuy is deeply committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM. She strives to be a visible role model for students from historically underrepresented communities, particularly Indigenous, Latinx, and women students, inspiring them to pursue their aspirations, recognize their potential, and see themselves as future leaders in computing and engineering.
